Thanks for the tips.. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video. I was successful in changing the IP address as suggested but I am unable to connect. When I try and diagnose the problem it says that a cable is not connected to the LAN port. This is confirmed by the fact that when I connect the ethernet cable to the laptop the connection icon in the taskbar dosen't change. I have tested the cables and have actually used these cables and another laptop to connect the same equipment and it all worked.
The only difference was the other laptop is running windows XP. As soon as I plugged the ethernet cable to the XP laptop the connection icon in the taskbar changed and recognised the connection.
I was then able to do my configuation of the equipment. I have used the same theory on both laptops to change my IP address to a static IP address but can only get connection when using XP. Is there another setting I have turn on or change within Vista for it to accept that the IP address has changed? I used these instructions to change my IP address within Vista This thread is locked.
