Thread starter Cookiertc Start date Oct 29, Cookiertc Banned. Hey Guys Am new to the site so go easy on my first post!! I recently rebuilt my HTPC and have just invested in the above drive just wanted to say how i got round a few problems and the current outstanding ones.

Puts Flags of Our Fathers Blu Ray in and total freeze up of the computer cant even get control alt del so has i look around and finds that my mobo is incompatable with the drive should of checked to start with so off i go in search of a PCI Express sata controller finding one at maplins costing 20 pounds. Installed that into Vista all ok had to start vista to allow unsigned drivers but installed fine and worked. Tried playing my blu ray first film and wahhhheeee it worked first Blu Ray HD experience and i am truely impressed by it i have a collection of about DVDs and my god i dont want to watch any of them again unless in HD.

On watching the film i never noticed the drive was spinning unless i turned the film down so i couldnt hear anything. Encountered no stuttering or glitches in playback and was a perfect picture. Came home put it in the drive and the dreaded black screen appeared!! Thought mm strange i know i can play blu ray films fine so tried playing it again and got a quick graphic of a spider up then it went to blank screen. Rang Pioneer this morning and they are currently developing a update with Cyberlink for this drive along with many others so the new films such as FF4 and SM3 can play on there drive gave me estimate of 3 weeks until that will be released so that puts a bit of a downer on it.

Sorry for the long post dont kill me!! Thanks for that. Am planning to get the drive in weeks, i will wait for the patch to be released. Did you contact cyberlink? They are giving out the a patch to people who contact them. Did Pioneer say were the patch will be released, There site or Cyberlink? I have just logged a support call with cyberlink now to see if that patch you mentioned would sort this problem out and if not when will the patch that pioneer have informed me they are developing will be ready and where to source this from will update as i get more news!

Hi C, Welcome to the forum! I'm a recent member too and found the guys and girls here very helpful. I have the a Cyberlink patch and it partly cures the problem with Spiderman 3.

I too had the black screen when playing the disc which can be a bit of a downer! Cyberlink patch allows me to play back the film, but the main menu is currupt so you have to use the keys and "guess" what you are doing.

Cyberlink should send you the link shortly. I am curious about the new patch for the Pioneer drive, hopefully it isn't a, and it is a proper fix. Well if this patch that a few of you have used already does fix some of the problem it will be a start but i will keep on at them as all the features should be fully working and the main menu not working correctly is a bit of a joke lol Just hope it doesnt take them 3 weeks like pioneer told me as that is quite some time and theres a few good new films lined up over next few weeks!!

Also hope its released earlier really want to get my player. Anyone heard anymore about the update? I have set it to Region 2 UK in device manager but that didn't fix it. I have heard about the registry hack to set the Blu-ray region and count but the registry entries must be different on XP bit my Laptop runs bit and they are there, not much use though as it won't play the discs.

Any ideas to solve my problem. Comer Active Member. I thought I'd share my trials with this drive. This caused a problem in that Vista would not start until I luckily found out that Microsoft have a solution which is a simple regedit of the msachi driver. Now I can get playback but it stutters. Apparently the mobo on board graphics card is not up to the job, so a new card may have to be bought unless I can find a solution.

Die Hard 4 however gives me that stupid Region code B error even though its set to region B. Donnacha Distinguished Member. I have region problems also. I had driver issues at first but they now seem resolved so finally got through Spidey 3! Anyone got this disc playing, or know of a way around? Naaktgeboren Member. Great initial review, this was always planned to be my next upgrade. Naturally my board falls into this catagory abit Fatal1ity Fhd Does anyone know whether or not this drive supports this chipset?

Anyone any advice on the region errors as mentioned above? Donnacha said:. Click to expand What happens if you set anydvd to automatic rather than A, B or C etc on the Blu Ray disc region setting? Well I got it to work at last!! Don't know why, but it did?!
